Future Friday: #SHRM18

In preparation for the SHRM Conference being held in Chicago on June 17th through 20th, I want to highlight the three blog posts I did for the conference.

The first of these was Listening the correct way: An interview with Paul Endress for #SHRM18.  All of us in HR know about the importance of active listening. Paul says that is not enough. We need to engage in, what he calls, reflective listening. You can learn what this is by clicking the link above and by scheduling to be in his session on Monday the 18th at 10:45 am.

My second blog was The art of the story: A #SHRM18 Interview with Alfredo Castro. Alfredo is an international storyteller who teaches people to be better leaders and employees through the process of “storyfication.” Humankind has used storytelling as a communication method for most of the time humans have been in existence. We should not let this skill disappear. So if you want to see and listen to Alfredo catch him Monday the 18th at 2 p.m.

Along the lines of storytelling, I also profiled an exhibitor, Splainers. Headed by Mark Smith, who comes from the movie business, Splainers produces video that helps HR departments explain policies, procedures, and other complicated issues (think harassment) in an attention-getting way. Stop by Booth 2316 to see how they might be able to help you.

I have also written two blog posts about networking that provide advice to those of you that may be challenged with having to be extroverted. Check out Networking news for #SHRM18 attendees and More networking advice for #SHRM18 attendees.
