February 1st… Hmmm… don’t I have to publish some OSHA form?

Today is the day to post your OSHA 300 log.

The answer to that question is a resounding YES! At least if you have more than 10 employees and are not on the list of exempted industries.

Post in a place where all employees can see it.

According to OSHA’s website, all covered employers must do the following:

  1. Review the OSHA 300 Log to verify that the entries are complete and accurate, and correct any deficiencies identified.
  2. Create an annual summary of injuries and illnesses recorded on the OSHA 300 Log. The easiest way to do this is to use the 300-A form provided.
  3. Certify the summary. This means an executive of the company has to certify that he or she has examined the OSHA 300 Log and that he or she reasonably believes, based on his or her knowledge of the process by which the information was recorded, that the annual summary is correct and complete. An executive is defined as an owner of the company (only if the company is a sole proprietorship or partnership); an officer of the corporation; the highest ranking company official working at the establishment; or the immediate supervisor of the highest ranking company official working at the establishment.
  4. Post this form in a conspicuous place by end of business TODAY!
  5. At the end of April you can take this form down, but it must be saved and stored for a period of five (5) years. It must be updated with any additional information that is discovered at a later time.

If you have not completed this task then get on the stick and get it done. Try not to trip in the rush to get it done.
