If you are in the high tech business today your talent acquistion strategy had better include hoodies, chocolate fountains, gourmet food, napping rooms and big parties, according to writer Geoffrey Fowler in his WSJ article The Perk Bubble is Growing as Tech-Sector Booms Again. Companies are once again competing for talent offering perks mirroring what was often done in the late 1990’s. Some of these include:
- $600 per person seafaring parties
- Wine and cheese mixers
- Rooftop barbeques
- Yoga Tuesdays
- Thursday recess
- Two story indoor treehouses
- Nap rooms
- Visits by rappers
- Game day
- Gourmet lunches and dinners
- and last but not least Cashmere hoodies. So the standard business casual has been replaced.
So what is your recruiting budget like these days?
